Rotorua timber mill Tachikawa Forest Products has terminated
the jobs of its 130 employees today.
The employees were given their termination notices at a
meeting at Huranga Te Rangi Marae, Ngapuna this morning.
Staff at the mill were told to start looking for new jobs
last Friday, when receivers KordaMentha moved in to Tachikawa
Forest Products on Vaughan Rd, sending staff home.
First Union officials, who represent about 90 of the mill's
130 workers, met their members, receivers, Rotorua's
mayor-elect Steve Chadwick and MPs last week to discuss the
