Law firm Anderson Lloyd has opened an Auckland office, led by three former partners of rival firm Russell McVeagh.

Geoff Busch, Chris Bargery and David Holden brought complementary, specialist knowledge to the firm in banking and finance, corporate, mergers and acquisitions and infrastructure projects, Anderson Lloyd chief executive Richard Greenaway said.

Mr Greenaway confirmed several other members of the Russell McVeagh team also joined the three lead partners when the office opened this month.

Anderson Lloyd was established in Dunedin in 1862 and also has offices in Christchurch and Queenstown.

In the past six months, the firm has introduced two new Christchurch partners, and in June, reopened a permanent office on the third floor of Anderson Lloyd House in Gloucester St.

The structure was the first multi-storey office building constructed post-earthquake within the heart of the city's central business district and the first to receive urban design consent after the release of the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan.
