Odie Ruegg holds a pizza at newly-opened pizzeria Spagalimis in Dunedin.
Spagalimis first opened in Christchurch 37 years ago, with a restaurant on the corner of Colombo and Kilmore Sts, and has since expanded to other sites in the city.
Mr Ruegg, who owns the Dunedin restaurant, started working for Spagalimis in 2010 and worked his way up to managing its Riccarton Rd restaurant.
After consistent feedback from Dunedin residents visiting Christchurch, it was decided it was time to bring ''Spags'' pizza to Dunedin, he said.
About 15 people have been employed at the Dowling St site.
