New role for Crombie

Dunedin independent director and accountant Graham Crombie can add another line to his already extensive CV after being appointed as an associate member of the Commerce Commission.

Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Paul Goldsmith made the announcement yesterday of Mr Crombie's appointment as an associate member from Monday of this week.

Present associate member Jill Walker has been appointed a full member of the commission from December 1.

Mr Crombie was appointed in June as a deputy commissioner of the Southern District Health Board after the board was sacked by Health Minister Jonathan Coleman.

Mr Crombie is the chairman of Dunedin City Holdings, Dunedin City Treasury, Otago Museum Trust Board and NZ Genomics Ltd.

He is also a director of Surf Life Saving NZ.

Previously, he was president and chairman of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

During his career, Mr Crombie had 30 years' experience specialising in audit and consulting, including at Polson Higgs in Dunedin where he was chief executive and a partner.
