Blis CEO resigns after nine years

Blis Technologies chief executive Barry Richardson, who announced his resignation yesterday to pursue other interests, would be missed.

Craigs Investment Partners broker Chris Timms said Dr Richardson had been at Blis for nine years, leading the listed company through some difficult times.

''He has great industry experience. At times, it has been do or die for Blis, but they have secured funding to keep things going and it looks as though Blis has been making good progress.

''Dr Richardson will be missed, he is very well liked and has been a strong advocate for Blis.''

As chief executive, Dr Richardson had a difficult job.

In a small company like Blis, there was plenty going on and it was likely he had other work to carry out apart from his role as chief executive, Mr Timms said.

Dr Richardson said in a statement that with a doubling of revenue and some recent success in pushing through regulatory approvals for Blis products in international markets, now was a good time to hand over to a new leader to take the company on to the next level of development.

At the recent annual meeting, Blis forecast a further large increase in revenue based on orders now in the pipeline, he said.

''I think the company is in a place where it has a bright future and I am proud to have played a part in that.''

Blis chairman Peter Fennessy said when Dr Richardson joined the company nine years ago, he took on a difficult task but through dogged persistence he had got the company to where it was today - poised for growth.

Dr Richardson would stay on until near the end of the financial year to help with a smooth transition.
