Carpet maker to cut dozens of jobs

Carpet maker Cavalier Bremworth will cut around 65 jobs across its three plants in Whanganui, Napier and Christchurch.

The announcement has just been made and staff are being told by management.

A downturn in demand for woollen carpets means the company will shut down its operations in Christchurch, moving them to a bigger plant in Whanganui.

The wool spinning operations in Whanganui will move to Napier.
