The $23 million Remarkables Base Build skifield project near Queenstown was a category winner in the annual Property Council awards in Auckland last night, gaining a "best in category''.

In the Holmes Consulting Group Tourism and Leisure Property Award, The Remarkables Base Build, by Arrow International, won best in category, with the Otahuhu Recreation Centre, NZ Strong and Creative Spaces gaining an excellence award.

The Remarkables Base Build was hampered by spring snowfalls, other weather-related delays and battered by severe winds which shattered numerous windows before its opening in mid-2015.

NZME Central won the "best of the best'' award in the Property Council's New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards 2016.

The Auckland CBD building, with six levels of office space over two buildings and linked at several levels by suspended walk bridges within a glazed atrium, is home to NZME Central Headquarters, Meredith Connell, Maersk Shipping and Pernod Ricard.

Other southern nominees were the $6.3 million Te Pa, University of Otago Childcare Centre, and Queenstown Airport's $12million international terminal extension.
