Businesses' turn to ask questions

Otago businesses will on Monday have the opportunity to talk directly to government agencies to pose "difficult questions'' covering their day-to-day interactions with the agencies.

Small Business Minister Craig Foss said whether it was compliance, tax, surveys or trade and innovation, businesses spent significant time working with government agencies.

"We'd like to help make local businesses even more productive. So whether you run one of Dunedin's 18 vet practices, 75 pubs or 90 accounting firms, come and ask our experts all your difficult questions,'' he said in a statement yesterday.

The event, at the Dunedin Centre, is one of the first of 16 around the country in coming months.

The aim is to help business owners engage with the agencies more effectively and efficiently, he said.

The event includes government support, finding it, online services, the regional business partner network, and changes to health and safety, tax, ACC and minimum employment standards.
