Dunedin-based sharebroker Forsyth Barr last night won the inaugural People's Choice KiwiSaver Communications Award at the Workplace Savings New Zealand awards.
The awards promote innovation and excellence in all forms of workplace savings communication and assist in setting best practice communication standards for the industry.
Forsyth Barr savings specialist Gordon Tucker said the award was the only category of the Workplace Savings NZ Communication Awards that allowed the public to vote.
Voters selected the provider who they felt had cut through the legislative requirements to provide meaningful and relevant information.
"This highlights client support, understanding and satisfaction for the communications provided by the Forsyth Barr KiwiSaver scheme, which has been achieved in a very short timeframe.''
Forsyth Barr only became a KiwiSaver provider half way through 2008 - one year after KiwiSaver was launched, he said.
The Dairy Industry Superannuation Scheme won the annual reporting of the year award an the supreme award for excellence in communication.
Workplace Savings executive director Bruce Kerr said his members were responsible for looking after about 90% of funds under management through KiwiSaver and other workplace savings schemes.
