Three fires in vehicles

Dunedin police are investigating two suspicious car fires in Dunedin at the weekend.

Detective Sergeant John Hedges said one car was found burnt out about 8pm on Friday in Normanby St, followed by another at 7am on Saturday in South Rd.

Both appeared suspicious and police were following lines of inquiry.

Invercargill police are seeking information about the arson of a car early on Saturday.

Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle said the 1995 red Mitsubishi was parked on the corner of Stirrat and Chesney Sts about 2am.

A short time later it was set alight and was extensively damaged.
