Police seek help on assaults

Dunedin police are still trying to solve several recent assaults in the city.

The television show Police Ten 7 was being filmed in the city yesterday following an unsolved sexual attack on a woman at St Clair in late July.

A 26-year-old woman reported she was attacked in Hargest Cres while walking home alone from work at 2.20am on July 25.

She told police a man followed her some way before grabbing her, pushing her into a fence and indecently assaulting her.

She fought him off and ran home.

Detective Jenepher Glover said police hoped the show would bring forward more information from the public.

It would also briefly cover another unsolved assault on a woman in St Clair in late May.

Police yesterday appealed for sightings of a mid-1980s maroon Holden VK or VL model Commodore sedan with silver trim, seen parked behind the George St McDonald's about 1am on Sunday, July 25.

Constable Jude Yeoman said police wanted to speak to the occupants, who were possible witnesses to an aggravated robbery in the area about that time.

The aggravated robbery could be connected to an unsolved alleged assault behind the McDonald's later the same night, Const Yeoman said.

In that incident, two men were set upon by a group of 16- to 18-year-olds.

Anyone with any information about any of the incidents was asked to contact Dunedin police.
