The search for a body spotted off Lawyers Head at Dunedin
early yesterday will continue this morning.
Crew on board a helicopter, sent up by police acting on
information from the public, spotted what is believed to be
the body of a female at 4.55am, but the weather was too bad
to start a retrieval operation until daylight.
However, searches of the shoreline and water in the area
failed to locate the body.
Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said while the death was not
considered suspicious, police were still investigating the
circumstances.
