A Corstorphine house was severely damaged in an arson
attack on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the Middleton Rd house at
9.30pm on Monday.
Detective Sergeant Brett Roberts, of Dunedin, said the rented
property was unoccupied at the time, and he praised the
actions of a neighbour who raised the alarm.
Police did not believe the arson was linked to the former
Mongrel Mob property, also in Middleton Rd, which was set on
fire earlier this year.
Det Sgt Roberts said police wanted to hear from anyone who
noticed persons acting suspiciously around the property
during the past week, particularly on Monday night.
Southern Region Safety fire officer Barry Gibson said the
living area and a bedroom were severely damaged by fire,
while there was smoke damage throughout property.
