King's old boys to gather

Artist Grahame Sydney will be there.

So will yachting commentator Peter Montgomery, television and radio host Murray Deaker and Rhodes Scholar, former All Black, MP and radio talk show host Chris Laidlaw.

Although they are well-known New Zealanders, to their old school mates they will still be Grahame, Pete, Muzza and Chris at the King's High School 75th reunion next weekend.

Reunion chairman John Barr said the four would be just some of many well known and successful old boys at the reunion.

About 500 ex-pupils and four former principals were expected to attend, Mr Barr said.

Registration would begin next Friday, with a formal welcome and class photos the next morning.

As part of the reunion, six "exceptional old boys" would be inducted into the school's new Wall of Fame, situated in the school foyer.

Their academic, artistic, sporting, humanitarian or business achievements will be recognised during an unveiling ceremony on the Saturday afternoon.

The formal dinner would be held that evening at the Edgar Centre's Lion Foundation Arena, Mr Barr said.

Celebrations would conclude with a church service and brunch on the Sunday morning.
