Roslyn day spa consent granted

A Roslyn boutique day spa and massage therapy business has been granted consent to move into the former Roslyn fire station, and it may soon be joined in the building by a new restaurant and bar.

Despite objections from neighbours, a Dunedin City Council resource consent committee of Crs Colin Weatherall, Richard Walls and Fliss Butcher found noise and traffic associated with the building would be no worse if Erban Spa director Milton Weir moved his business into it than it would be if the building continued to be used for residential purposes.

Tomorrow, a hearings committee will consider an application from RM Designs for a restaurant, cafe and bar in the building, with an outdoor dining area and rooftop drinking space.

The application has attracted 27 submissions, with 13 opposing, 12 in support, and two neutral.
