The last roof truss was put in place at the Forsyth Barr Stadium yesterday.

Weighing 220 tonnes, the fifth and final truss was placed, completing the roof structure over the main pitch.

Carisbrook Stadium Charitable Trust chairman Malcolm Farry said it was a "major milestone" in "transforming what was once an industrial warehousing site to the now near-finished exterior of New Zealand's largest indoor arena".

Construction was on track for the stadium to open in August, he said.
