Dunedin music just got retro.
A range of T-shirts has been launched paying homage to 1980s
Dunedin Sound bands.
The Clean, The Bats, The 3Ds and the Flying Nun record label
are all commemorated in the "Flying Nun EP Series #1"
collection.
The hand-numbered, limited edition shirts feature the cover
image of the bands' early EP releases.
"The reaction from this has just been fantastic.
"In fact, we're already looking at doing some more Dunedin
Flying Nun bands soon," Duncan Greive, creative services
manager for clothing label Barkers, said.
The Clean and The Bats singer-songwriter Robert Scott was
delighted with the shirts.
"They didn't come out as a T-shirt at the time, so it's great
to see these out now.
"These Dunedin bands are still referenced in reviews today,
so people are still checking out Dunedin bands from the
'80s," he said.
"They seem to be as relevant today as they've ever been."
The Bats have just recorded an album at the former-Seacliff
Mental Asylum.
It is due out in June.
