Two University of Otago students were arrested and charged
with burglary early on Saturday after small fires were lit in
a kitchen area at a central Dunedin bar, police said.
The two men, in their early 20s, allegedly entered the
kitchen area at the Metro Cafe and Bar, in Lower Stuart St,
and lit a couple of small fires, which apparently caused
little damage, and defecated in a sink, police said.
After the intruders were disturbed about 6.30am they ran off,
Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Scoles, of Dunedin, said.
A security guard followed and one student was located about
20 minutes later, the other was located on Sunday.
Both will appear in the Dunedin District Court this week.
