Director Carol Krueger said the play was a spoof on the Spike Milligan book Badjelly the Witch.

"This one has New Zealand characters, like glow worms, a morepork and fantails."

Bad Smelly opens at the Globe Theatre at 11am today and runs until April 30. Shows are at 11am and 2pm daily.
