Multiple power outages in Port Chalmers caused frustration
for customers and Delta engineers yesterday.
Trees touching overhead power lines, and cracked insulators
cut power to properties in Port Chalmers for most of the
morning.
Delta system control manager Ross Osborne said the problems
were caused by wind gusts, which reached 114kmh in the area
last Thursday.
Rain on Sunday night and yesterday morning caused some
insulators to arc and power had to be cut to replace them.
Power was restored by noon yesterday.
