Staff exchange spin-off of science conference

The signing of a staff exchange agreement between the Otago Museum and Science Centre Singapore recently reflects the continuing positive effects of hosting an international science conference in Dunedin last year, museum officials say.

The Otago Museum had previously signed broader memorandums of understanding with the Singapore institution and the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Clare Wilson, the Otago exhibitions, development and planning director, said yesterday.

Staging the Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres (Aspac) in New Zealand for the first time last year had sparked growing overseas interest in the Otago Museum science centre, she said.

Staff from the Singapore and Otago centres could learn more from each other through the exchange agreement.
