Candidates vying to be the next Dunedin City Council chief executive will make their cases in person this weekend.
Short-listed candidates will present themselves to Mayor Dave Cull and the city's councillors, and answer questions, in a public-excluded council meeting in Dunedin on Saturday.
It was not known how many candidates would attend, but councillors were expected to vote to confirm their selection at the meeting.
Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull could not be contacted last night, but the details were confirmed by deputy mayor Chris Staynes.
Cr Staynes would not comment on the number of candidates still in the running, or where they were from, but hoped an announcement could follow "no more than a week or two" after Saturday's meeting.
That would allow the successful candidate time to check and discuss the contract before signing, he said.
The appointment would fill the vacancy left by previous chief executive Jim Harland, whose resignation took effect on January 21, leaving Athol Stephens as acting chief executive.
Recruitment company EQI Global was appointed to find Mr Harland's replacement, prompting 47 applications and interest from across New Zealand and as far afield as Australia and the United Kingdom.
