Mural in limbo

The fate of a 119-year-old mural in Port Chalmers' Garrison Hall will not be known until a report from Te Papa is completed.

Dunedin City Council maintenance manager John Varney said a decision about the Japanese themed mural, painted in watercolour on linen, was being held up by the report.

Once the report is complete, the council, Historic Places Trust, and architectural conservator Guy Williams will decide on its future.
