Kelvin Cummings sings
Little Lion Man by Mumford
and Sons during auditions at the University of Otago's union
hall for the
Otago Daily Times' "Big Night In" 150th
birthday celebrations yesterday.
The 30-year-old Dunedin singer, who heads East Otago High
School's music department, is "incredibly excited" at the
possibility of taking part in the first community concert at
the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
"I love to sing in front of large crowds and I want to be
part of something big and unique," he said.
He was one of 25 to audition yesterday.
Most were auditioning for parts in the OD Glee ensemble,
artistic producer Doug Kamo said.
Today about 20 dancers were expected to audition and
tomorrow, 40 to 50 solo artists. They had been selected from
200 applicants.
