Dunedin hotels are filling up at the times of the key Rugby
World Cup matches, but rooms are still available.
Demand was high for rooms the day before and after the
Argentina v England game (September 10) and the England v
Romania match (September 24).
New Zealand Hotel Council regional chairman Greg Hewland said
some rooms were still available for those dates.
Rooms also were available around the England v Georgia
(September 18) and Ireland v Italy (October 2) games, with
good availability between matches.
People were booking closer to the time they wanted to travel,
he said.
Dunedin enjoyed a spike in hotel occupancy in July, with
occupancy at 65%, compared with 60% for July last year.
Mr Hewland attributed the increase to strong demand for
conference accommodation in July.
