The Otago Early Childhood and Schools Maori and Pacific Island Festival (Polyfest) at the Edgar Centre featured 1800 performers from 70 schools and child-care centres.

The festival was founded in 1993 as a showcase for kapa haka and Pasifika cultural items by Dunedin primary schools.

It is now a significant three-day festival, which celebrates the Maori and Pacific Island communities through song, dance, speech and art.

Polyfest continues at the Edgar Centre today and tomorrow. Secondary school groups will perform from 6pm to 9pm today.
