A mammoth clean-up of the student quarter in North
Dunedin is about to begin as part of the annual mass scarfie
migration home.
University exams are scheduled to finish on November 12 and
students will begin their annual clear-out as many leave
North Dunedin to return home for their summer holidays.
The Dunedin City Council has put on extra recycling and
rubbish collection services during the next three weeks,
while the Otago University Students' Association is also
involved with the traditional tip-out of many flats.
Big rubbish skips are to placed at strategic locations around
several streets in North Dunedin to "make it easy" for
students wanting to clear out their residences, an OUSA
spokesman said.
The council has scheduled additional recycling and rubbish
collection services on three consecutive Friday afternoons,
starting from today.
Skips will also be available tomorrow, on Friday, November 4,
Saturday, November 5, Friday, November 11 and Saturday,
November 12.
