Curious onlookers check the inner workings of Adrian
Mann's 5.7m, 1.2-tonne piano as he plays his favourite
melodies, including music from Queen and Billy Joel, in the
foyer of the Otago Museum yesterday.
What is believed to be the world's longest piano attracted
curious onlookers who were amazed not only by the piano but
also the talent of its builder and player.
Mr Mann, of Timaru, said he was not a concert pianist, just
someone who enjoyed playing the piano.
The piano, which only has 85 of the standard 88 keys because
he did not make the piano wide enough, sounded better in the
museum than at his home, he said.
The far, right-hand keys were not missed.
