Fairfield School pupils yesterday line up in front of their
mural which was second in a national competition.
Teacher Matt Curtis said the mural, depicting life at the
school, was second equal in the Resene Mural Masterpieces
competition. It was the first time the school had entered the
annual competition, open to both primary and secondary
schools.
"They could not believe it at first. They are quite proud
because the other two schools that won are both high
schools," he said.
His class all drew sketches of what they wanted included and
they, with a few helpers, finished it during the holidays in
October.
The pupils won a range of toys and the school received a $500
voucher.
