Although yesterday was her due date, Olivia Dick's parents did not think she would arrive on Christmas Day.

Mother, Lisa Dick, of Dunedin said despite her third baby's due date being December 25, she had not expected the birth on schedule.

However, her arrival was the family's best Christmas present, and big brother Liam (4), sister Emily (2) and father Matt were all delighted, Mrs Dick said.

In time, the family would work out a strategy to work with the "awkward" festive season birthday.

Olivia was delivered about 3.30am, weighing 3.7kg.

Mrs Dick was pleased to be back at the family's Sawyers Bay home yesterday afternoon.

Olivia was the second baby born at Dunedin Hospital yesterday, following Tegan McEwan and Kirk Sidon's son Kase, at 12.20am.
