Support will be shown for Christchurch designers at this
year's iD Dunedin Fashion Week.
Three special "Celebrate Christchurch" capsule collections
will feature on the runway during the March shows.
High-profile labels MisteR, Barbara Lee and Caroline Moore
were invited to show at the event as iD committee chairwoman
Susie Staley said they, and many others, had endured
professional and personal hardship over the past 16 months.
"We're thrilled that these three Christchurch-based designers
will join our Dunedin designers and enjoy the fun and
excitement that being part of the iD Fashion Show is all
about. It also gives the public a chance to see their latest
winter collections, available in retail outlets across New
Zealand directly after the shows," she said.
MisteR is a boutique menswear label which combines British
tailoring with the experimental quirkiness of Asian fashion;
Barbara Lee is known for her women's wear; and Caroline Moore
designs and tailors leather garments from New Zealand and
Italian lambskins in the company's Christchurch base.
Returning to iD this year are designer sisters Tamsin and
Emily Cooper, who will feature their respective labels Tamsin
Cooper and Silkbody in another capsule collection.
Popular 2011 iD guest Charlotte Smith, owner of the Darnell
Collection, will also return to the city for a "Darnell
Renewed" show during the Starlight Shopping event on March
28. The show will feature a variety of international vintage
couture garments not seen previously, mixed with current
season pieces from local designers and retailers.
Tickets to the major iD events go on sale tomorrow from
TicketDirect.
iD International Emerging Designer Awards tickets, for the
March 29 show, range from $40 to $70; fashion show tickets to
either the March 30 or 31 event range from $65 to $110; and
tickets to the Darnell Renewed event are $20 each.
