Jason Forbes, of Dunedin, inspects the crash damage wrought
by impact testing on a three-star safety-rated car displayed
in the Meridian Mall, in Dunedin, yesterday.
It was beside a five-star vehicle to demonstrate the value of
safety ratings, New Zealand Transport Agency senior engineer
Stuart Worden said.
‘‘If you were in the front seat of the three-star rated car
in this crash you would have received severe chest and leg
injuries. If you were in the five-star car, you'd essentially
be able to walk away.''
The display will remain in the Meridian until tomorrow.
