Firefighters were at the scene of a blaze yesterday which rendered this Mosgiel state house uninhabitable.

The Fire Service was investigating the cause of the fire, which started in a bedroom, Mosgiel fire station officer Martin Jansen said.

Lookout Point, St Kilda, and Outram firefighters helped those from Mosgiel extinguish the fire, which they were called to about 9.45am. Firefighters spent several hours at the Murray St house.

No-one was home at the time of the blaze.

Taieri College school principal Christina Herrick said three brothers who attended the college lived at the house and had been offered counselling. They were shocked, and were taken from the school by their mother, she said.
