Changes inside Forsyth Barr Stadium are expected to provide a much-needed revenue boost, as well as giving television viewers a new view of the ground.

Work is under way to move the stadium's media box from the south stand to the top of the north stand, where a new media facility is being built.

Work began last month and was expected to be completed in time for the venue's first All Blacks test, against South Africa on September 15, Dunedin Venues Management Ltd chief executive David Davies confirmed yesterday.

The change would see all broadcast media, including television crews and their cameras, relocated to the north stand, while print media remained in the south stand.

The switch would free up additional space for two new corporate suites in the south stand, and the $1.3 million rejig was expected to generate an extra $2 million in revenue for DVML over the next 10 years.

The new camera angles would also mean television exposure for more advertising hoardings and banners, providing an additional revenue boost to DVML.

The change meant the loss of more than 100 seats high up in the north stand, but extra space in the south stand would compensate for those lost.

The project was first mooted in 2010, and a decision to build the new facility made last year, but the project was delayed until after the Rugby World Cup was completed.
