Ironic Cafe and Bar owners Steve Wilson and Sue Moller will
open a second cafe in December, having taken the lease to run
the cafe being built as part of the Toitu Otago Settlers
Museum redevelopment. It will be known as Ironic @ Toitu.
The two cafes will be only a short distance apart. The
existing cafe and bar, which opened in December 2007, is on
Anzac Ave opposite Dunedin Railway Station.
Three additional staff had been employed to man the museum
cafe, Ms Moller said yesterday.
The museum cafe will be in the new entrance foyer at the
northern end of the building. It will have both indoor and
outdoor seating and panoramic views of some heritage
buildings, such as the railway station.
Architecturally the building was "stunning", Mr Wilson said.
The cafe was set beside an imposing Oamaru-stone wall and had
glass doors leading to the courtyard.
The museum redevelopment and cafe will open to the public on
December 8.
