Mr Chytraus, who comes from Salt Lake City, in Utah, and Ben Sarten, of Taranaki, are winners of Arrival Magazine social media competitions.
The prize was two months travelling around New Zealand, capturing their travels for social media, but with one challenge - to have a beer with as many mayors as they could.
It proved harder than they thought until they met Ms van Uden, who suggested that if the pair made it to Dunedin by lunchtime yesterday they could tick off five mayors and one regional council chairman in one go.
Otago's mayors were attending a mayoral forum in the city yesterday and were happy to pose for photographs with the pair, who are in Dunedin for three nights before heading to Tekapo.
They have already travelled the North Island and West Coast.
