An excavator, with a bucket and demolition jaws, dismantles the former office block at Speight's Brewery in Rattray St, Dunedin, as part of redevelopment plans at the site.

The old office block is to make way for a new brew house.

Lion external relations manager Judy Walter said the redevelopment project remained on track to be completed in late 2013.

Demolition of the old "3 cellar" and "cellar 1" buildings at the rear of the site was almost complete and new yeast tanks had been lifted into position by crane.

With the old Canterbury Brewery keg plant now in operation, Speight's had more than doubled the keg-filling capacity it had before the project began in May last year, she said.
