Dunedin Police want to hear from people who witnessed the
fatal crash on Cumberland Street which claimed the life of a
cyclist on Monday morning.
Dr LiHong "Chris" He (34), a senior lecturer at the
University of Otago School of Dentistry, died after he was
run over by a truck about 10am.
Dunedin road policing manager Senior Sergeant Phil McDouall
said today police were still working to piece together the
details of how the crash happened.
The crash happened in a busy part of the city, next to
Dunedin Hospital's old Accident and Emergency entrance.
"Someone either walking past or working in a nearby office
might have seen the crash happen," he said.
Police also want to hear from any motorists who saw the
crash.
The driver of a truck and trailer unit in the area at the
time of the accident has already been spoken to, along with
the driver of a car parked nearby.
