Two young men are facing charges after hundreds of thousands
of dollars worth of internet-sourced drugs bound for Dunedin
and Oamaru were seized by police.
The lawyer for the Pike River families says six years on from
the tragedy he is still asked the same question: "How could
this happen in this day and age?''
The Government's plan to sell state houses to private
providers has hit a hurdle after a major Dunedin-based buyer
pulled out of the process.
Armed police have taken a man into custody at Dunedin's
Phillip Laing House.
The Otago Regional Council says it will be monitoring river
levels over the weekend, with heavy rain forecast for Dunedin
and other parts of the region.
