A 19-year-old Oamaru man facing aggravated robbery charges
after an incident on Friday night was remanded in custody
when he appeared in the Dunedin District Court on Saturday.
He was charged after the knifepoint robbery of the Meadowbank
Dairy, on the corner of State Highway 1 and Don St, Oamaru,
at 7.30pm on Friday.
The alleged offender was discovered by police at 8.15pm
hiding in a residential property "a few hundred metres" from
the dairy. Police found a knife believed to have been used in
the robbery and recovered items allegedly stolen from the
dairy, including synthetic cannabis products.
The man was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court
tomorrow over the robbery and other unrelated matters.
