Dunedin police are still looking for the man who sexually
assaulted a 19-year-old woman near the University of Otago
campus early on Sunday.
Detective Sergeant Dave Nelson said the woman was walking
from the Octagon towards the university when she saw a
dark-skinned man, with a moustache, acting suspiciously in a
red vehicle.
She sent a text message to a friend saying she felt unsafe
and walked through the campus and on to Montgomery Ave, where
she was attacked from behind, between 3am and 3.30am.
Police described the offender as about 176cm tall with a
strong Pacific Island accent.
Det Sgt Nelson said he wanted to hear from anyone who had
been approached by, or seen, the offender, or had seen the
man in the red car, so they could connect or eliminate the
vehicle from the inquiry.
Surveillance footage was being investigated, Det SgtNelson
said.
