A return visit by a former Dunedin man proved costly when
police stopped him at the Dunedin International Airport for
overdue fines this week.
The 34-year-old man arrived at the airport on Monday from
Brisbane, where he had been living.
He was given the choice of paying $950 in overdue fines or
having the matter dealt with in court.
''The man chose to cough up the money,'' Senior Sergeant
Bruce Ross said.
It served as a warning to those who thought they could evade
overdue fines, he said.
