Student flat break-in thwarted

Police are appealing for information after a man was interrupted attempting to break into a student flat in Dunedin last night.

Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said a woman living in the flat on Clyde St interrupted the man as he was trying to break in through a window about 7.50pm.

The man was described as being between 18 and 25 years old, a thinly built Caucasian with blond hair who was wearing a black, long-sleeve top with yellow writing on it.

Police were speaking to a person they believed may have been involved and were keen to hear from anyone who had seen anything suspicious in the area.

Snr Sgt Aitken said it was usual for the student quarter to be targeted by burglars at the end of the academic year.
