Otago surf life saving club members hit the water with
rescue boards at St Clair Beach on Saturday as part of a
high-performance training weekend.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand high performance coach Scott
Bartlett, from Mount Maunganui, took 14 boys and five girls
through the ''hows and whys'' of surf life saving racing,
reviewed their technical performance and yesterday held a
race day to see if they remembered what they had been taught.
''It's exposing the kids to coaching ... and teaching them a
little more about what's expected on the international
stage,'' he said.
