Otago Daily Times marketing co-ordinator Jess Peck
sits among thousands of entries received for the newspaper's
annual Christmas ham and turkey competition yesterday.
About 8600 people entered the competition to win one of 60
hams and 60 turkeys.
Last year, about 7200 entered. Miss Peck said the response
was ''very exciting''. She said there would soon be another
opportunity for ODT readers to win.
More than $10,000 worth of prizes from Arthur Barnett was
being given away in the Summer Times holiday section of the
newspaper between December 27 and January 12.
Additional children's prizes were also offered.
''We've got loads of puzzle pages and competitions, so people
should make sure they get the paper and enter, especially if
they missed out on a turkey or ham,'' Miss Peck said.
