Kate Moyle (2) takes a peek at one of the Pixie Town displays
at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum.
Pixie Town opened to the public this week and includes a
newly-restored monkey display, plenty of pixie and Santa
dress-up options and, from today until Christmas Eve, Santa
Claus.

Curator Peter Read said 13 units from the former DIC
department store's Pixie Town display were held by the museum
with two still to be restored.
They were originally part of displays which toured the
country from the 1930s until the late 1970s when the oil
shocks hit and it became unaffordable.
They were then sold to the DIC. Pixie Town is open until
January 6.
