The serious injuries of a 19-year-old Dunedin man could have
been prevented if he was wearing a seat belt, police say.
The teenager was in a stable condition in Dunedin Hospital
last night after a collision between two four-wheel-drive
vehicles on the Outram-Mosgiel Rd about 6.15pm. He was a rear
passenger.
Acting Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said: ‘‘At this stage
it appears he was not wearing his seat belt, which is
obviously disappointing. It would have been unlikely that he
would have received any injuries had he worn a seat belt.''
The crash was still under investigation.
