Gift of carpet

The Otago Museum has donated about 35sq m of used carpet tiles to the Taieri Historical Society for a church room in its Historical Park complex, near Outram.

Museum officials said the tiles, which were from the museum's science centre, had been left over after some tiles at the museum centre had to be replaced last year.

Some other centre tiles had needed to be replaced because of poor condition, but replacements were no longer available on the market, requiring a bigger change.

Wherever possible, the Otago Museum tried to support museum colleagues elsewhere in the region by offering assets that were no longer required, but in reasonable condition, officials said.
