After more than 30 years of producing Scouting Otago's
Gang Shows, Noel and Sue Walker say they are just as
enthusiastic about this year's show as they were their first.
Auditions are about to begin for Scouting Otago's 29th
Gang Show, and as always, the theme remains top secret
until opening night.
This is Mr and Mrs Walker's 17th show.
They have been running the shows every second year since
1980, and cannot wait to get started, Mrs Walker said.
''It never gets dull and boring, because you get a new cast
and new material every time. It keeps it fresh.
''We just really love it. We enjoy seeing the young members
grow and develop their theatrical skills.''
She said auditions for this year's show would be held at
scouting venues around Dunedin from February 17 to 21, and
they were looking for a cast of up to 80 people, aged 10 and
over, from Scouting and Guides organisations in Otago.
''This will be a non-stop, fast-moving, modern musical and
comedy revue consisting of more than 20 different items
ranging from old favourites to brand new items, with
something to appeal to everyone.''
Mrs Walker said the show would include a live orchestra, and
great costumes and scenery.
Performances would be held nightly at 7.30pm from July 16-20,
with a 2pm matinee on July 20.
