A racing car driver remains in Dunedin Hospital after a crash
at Teretonga circuit in Invercargill.
Formula 5000 driver Stan Redmond (65), of Christchurch, was
transferred from Southland Hospital to Dunedin Hospital by
helicopter in a critical condition on Friday night.
He was earlier in the day involved in a collision with
another car during practice. Acting Senior Sergeant Deon
McNaught, of Invercargill, said inquiries were continuing.
Police were working with motorsport authorities.
''It was a sanctioned meeting on a private track, closed to
the public. It was just the fact that he's quite severely
hurt that [means] police became involved.''
Snr Sgt McNaught said the driver was still in Dunedin
Hospital yesterday.
